
Still remember the Novatel Wireless MiFi 2200 portable EV-DO router? Sprint has released a new firmware update for the device that enables the always-on mode when connected to an external power source. Here is a list of new features included in the update:
- Nintendo DS and BlackBerry Curve supported
- Always-on mode when plugged into a power source
- International roaming has been perfected
- New Admin page enhancements
- Roaming indicator fixed
- Sprint Only mode added
- DHCP IP class A, B and C now supported
- WiFi channel now defaults to “Auto”
You can upgrade both Sprint and Verizon versions of MiFi 2200. The upgrade software is currently available via the Sprint MiFi’s web-based admin page. The giant mobile carrier Verizon apparently will release another Apple product before the year’s end. Known as the Apple tablet computer, the gadget may look like a larger iPod Touch. Verizon Wireless has recently launched a global version of its VZ Navigator service that will help travelers to find locations and access turn-by-turn directions in North America and Western Europe. VZ Navigator Global customers can choose either English or Spanish as the default language, and miles or kilometers to mark distances. LG and Verizon Wireless have joined to release the new LG Versa on March 1st, 2009. The Versa comes with a 3-inch touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard for everybody who doesn’t like typing on a touchscreen. There are also a 2.0MP shooter with face detection, microSD card slot (up to 16GB extra memory), a 2.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, EV-DO Rev. A, Flash support for the full HTML browser and a built-in accelerometer. This smartphone is also compatible with Verizon’s Mobile Broadband Connect, which allows you to use your phone as a modem when connected to a laptop. Rumors about the Verizon Hub/One have been circulating the Internet for a long time. Verizon has officially confirmed to launch the handset on February 1st, 2009 for $199 after a $50 MIR with a $35 a month fee. The Hub will be fully connected to the internet via broadband and allows for remote management of the applications which means you can create a calendar event from work and it will update at the Hub.
