I purchsed the Targus Mobile Date SYNC USB Cable to transfer files from one computer to another. When purchasing at Staples I was told this was the best technology to move files, etc. from one computer to another. Well, to date we are not having any luck. Two people have tried to transfer the files using the User Guide. I have Windows XP.
Are there better instructions that are found in the user guide?
Please advise.

I prefer software solutions, such as SyncMate for mac and pc synchronization. It’s free and works fine, I didn’t need the manual, everything was clear from the interface.
I have a Windows XP computer I use for downloading media/games and another running Windows 7 I use for playing and organizing the media/games I download. I needed a better way to transfer the data from the XP pc to the 7. The network was just too slow, files larger than 4gb wouldn’t go on my 8gb usb flash doohickey, and even the transfer speeds to and from an external usb 2.0 hard drive were driving me nuts when they weren’t putting me to sleep.
I bought this thing (Targus @ Target! $29.99), hooked it up, and aside from the old-school look and feel of the interface, it lets me transfer files back and forth very quickly indeed. The biggest drawback is that you do need to use the interface software, you cannot simply establish a connection and map ‘network drives’ or browse using the windows explorer interface. I’m currently looking for hacks/software to allow just that. Wish me luck!
