Apple LED Cinema Display

After releasing the new 13 inch MacBook and 15 inch MacBook Pro, Apple has also rolled out the new 24-inch LED Cinema Display that can expand the screen of your new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air and takes you to a new level of experience. The LED Cinema Display connects to your new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air via the ultra-compact Mini DisplayPort connector, so you can say good bye to the old DVI or VGA connectors. This high-end LED screen also comes with a MagSafe connector, which is able to power and charge your new MacBooks. Other features include the self-powered USB ports, the built-in iSight camera, microphone, and speakers.

Let’s talk about the advantages of LED technology. The reason why Apple used this technology is that because LEDs are solid-state light sources that light up very quickly, so there’s no waiting for your display when you connect your new MacBook, MacBook Pro, or MacBook Air. LEDs are also mercury-free, so the Apple LED Cinema Display is one of the eco-friendly appliances in the world. Apple also claims their new LED display as “The greenest Apple display ever.” No word on pricing so far. We will keep you posted. See more interesting pictures in the gallery below. Targus is back with another move towards the Apple fanboys. This time they want you to keep your MacBook cool with their new Chill Mat. What it is, is a simple laptop cooler with two powerful fans that is powered through the USB port. We love our Macs, so kudos to Targus. $50. [Gizmodo]

New Get a Mac Ads: Pizza Box, Throne, and Calming Teas

Apple has posted three new “Get a Mac” ads: Pizza Box, Throne and Calming Teas. One on my favorite is “Pizza Box”, where PC tries to attract college students to buy the PC by advertising a free pizza. Watch these funny ads after the jump. [Apple] More

Apple’s October Surprise: MacBook Touch?

by Jeremiah on July 22, 2008 · 1 comment

We love rumors, especially when it comes from Apple.  Now use your imagination:

Think MacBook screen, possibly a bit smaller, in glass with iPhone-like, but fuller-featured Multi-Touch. Gesture library. Full Mac OS X. This is why they bought P.A. Semi. Possibly with Immersion’s haptic tech. Slot-loading SuperDrive. Accelerometer. GPS. Pretty expensive to produce initially, but sold at “low” price that will reduce margins. Apple wants to move these babies. And move they will. This is some sick shit. App Store-compatible, able to run Mac apps, too. By October at the latest.

October, they say? [Gizmodo via Upcoming Laptops]

iPhone 3G Review

If you wonder why we’ve been quiet about all the iPhone 3G hype is because we were leaving that to the big guys.  While everybody was busy with the iPhone we kinda kicked it and found you some alternative news on other super cool gadgets.  But today we found that both Gizmodo and Engadget both wrote extensive reviews of this new kickass phone from Apple, so we thought we’d give you the heads up.

In a nutshell they both came up with similar conclusions.  Both aren’t too keen about the new polished black plastic backside and both have mixed feelings about the new App Store, how it refines applications but at the same time locks up wider possibilities; and they both love the 3G features and the upgraded location-aware functions.  I personally agree with them about the iPhone 3G being the most advanced touch based gadget (and OS) allowing you to scroll, pan, zoom, touch, pinch and dial through your contacts, music, photos, movies, maps, movies and more.  It’s probably the only gadget today doing so well in the touch interaction department that you will see many others following very soon.

All in all could find the full reviews here: Engadget’s iPhone 3G review; Gizmodo’s iPhone 3G review. [The iPod and MP3 Players Blog]

MacBook Air Price Cut

The Apple MacBook Air is now priced at $2598, down from the $3098. The cut is a result of price cuts to two separate components including the 1.8GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor upgrade by $100 to just $200 and the Flash memory-based 64GB SSD drive upgrade to $599 from $999. In addition, the 1.6GHz MacBook Air with an SSD drive now retails for $2398. [AppleInsider via Laptop Blog]
