German manufacturers Brinell has unveiled the Powerstorage line of hard drives that comes with an eye-catching housing, made completely of exclusive, high-quality materials such as stainless steel, exotic wood, nappa leather or carbon. Silicon Power Armor A50 Ultra Rugged Portable Hard Drive

Taiwanese manufacturer Silicon Power has released a new range of ultra rugged portable hard drives, the Armor A50. Coming in 250GB, 320GB, 500GB and 640GB capacities, these external HDDs feature an elegant aluminum construction and meet the military’s MIL-STD 810F standards for shock and drop resistance. They also offer a USB 2.0/1.1 interface, a OneTouch backup button that will backup and synchronize data instantly and come with a 60-day trial version of Norton Antivirus software. Active Media Predator X7 SSDs

Active Media has announced a new series of Predator X7 SSDs. Available in 32GB, 64GB, 128GB and 256GB capacities, these 2.5-inch pocket-sized SSDs are based on MLC NAND flash memory chips and provide read and write speeds of up to 230MB/s and 180MB/s, respectively. They also feature an 8-channel JM612 controller, a SATA-II 3.0 Gbps interface, a128MB of cache memory and a mini USB 2.0 port. The Predator X7 will start shipping in November for $149 (32GB), $219 (64GB), $349 (128GB) and $699 (256GB), respectively. [Active]

A-Data Announces Speedy CF 533X Series Compact Flash Cards

A-Data has just announced a new series of CompactFlash cards, the Speedy CF 533X. Coming in 16GB, 32GB and 64GB sizes, these cards provide read and write speeds of up to 80MB/s and 50MB/s, respectively. Not to mention, they also utilize a quad-channel transfer mode (Ultra DMA mode 0-6, IDE PIO mode 6, MDMA 0-4) and feature Error Correcting Code (ECC) function to detect and correct errors automatically. QNAP's Latest Entry Level Turbo NAS Server

QNAP Systems has recently released the TS-110 entry level NAS server for home and SOHO users. The TS-110 supports a single 3.5-inch SATA hard drive with up to 2TB of total capacity and features a Marvell 800MHz CPU and a 256MB DDRII RAM, which provides high performance with low power consumption. The NAS can be configured with QNAP’s exclusive Q-RAID 1 for high data redundancy. The TS-110 also features three USB ports for expanding the storage capacity, printer sharing, DLNA support, and an e-SATA port. The QNAP TS-110 will be available in October 2009. [Press Release]

Dane-Elec USB 3.0 External Hard Drives And SSDs

Dane-Elec has unveiled a series of external hard drives, the So SuperSpeed HDDs and SSDs, that will support the upcoming USB 3.0 standard. These storage devices will provide data transfer speeds of up to 250MBps, which is roughly ten times the rate available in current USB 2.0 devices. The So SuperSpeed drives consist of USB 3.0 HDDs which range in capacity of 500GB to 2TB and come in 2.5-inch or 3.5-inch formats, along with 80GB and 160GB SSDs that have been re-branded as Intel M-25 drives. If your computer doesn’t have an integrated USB 3.0 port, then you can use the Dane-Elec USB 3.0 adapters for PCIe or ExpressCard slots. The So SuperSpeed drives will be released on December 11th, coinciding with the launch of USB 3.0-compatible laptops and PCs. The 500GB HDD is priced at $180. Taiwanese storage solution provider Thecus has unveiled its latest Network Attached Storage (NAS) device called the N7700PRO. The device is equipped with seven 3.5-inch SATA drive bays, an LCD screen, a Core 2 Duo processor, a 4GB RAM and a 300W power supply. In addition, it also supports multiple RAID setups (0, 1, 5, 6, 10) and comes with several connectivity ports including four USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet and eSATA.
