
QNAP Systems is back with its latest Network Attached Storage (NAS) device called the TS-210. The NAS is powered by a 800MHz Marvell 6281 processor, a 256MB DDR2 RAM, a 16GB of flash memory and supports for up to two 3.5-inch SATA hard drives for a maximum of 4TB of storage space. The device also supports a full range of RAID options, and comes with several connectivity ports including Gigabit Ethernet and three USB for future expansion purposes. Eye-Fi, a maker of the world’s first wireless memory card for digital cameras, has recently announced that they will release WiFi-enabled SD cards in the UK market on October 19th, 2009. There are three Eye-Fi cards that will be available in the UK including the Eye-Fi Home Video, the Eye-Fi Share Video and the Eye-Fi Pro. These SD cards are available in 4GB storage space that is enough to stores up to 2,000 photos or 90 minutes of video and provides automatic backup to the computer thanks to its wireless capabilities. Super Talent has rolled out its new UltraDrive GX series of SSDs. This new 2.5-inch drive is offered in two different versions: SLC and MLC. Buffalo will launch the world’s first USB 3.0 external hard drive later this month. The Buffalo HD-HU3 USB 3.0 hard drive is currently available in 1TB, 1.5 TB and 2TB storage capacities. OCZ has added a new member to its PCI-E SSD series by announcing the Z-Drive m84. Available in 256GB, 512GB and 1TB capacities, these SSDs feature MLC NAND flash memory chips, a PCIe x8 interface, an onboard RAID controller, a MTBF of over 1 million hours and provide read/write speeds of 870/780 MB/s for the 1GB and 512GB models, and 750/650 MB/s for the 256GB model. The cool part of these LaCie Starck hard drives is its intelligent touch-sensitive surface, which responds to your touch. You can even customize the front panel of the LaCie Starck, so that it opens the application of your choosing, depending on whether you use a short tap or a long touch. The LaCie Starck also comes with a sturdy aluminum casing that will protect the device from shock and overheating. Available in desktop and mobile versions, these hard drives also have aluminum casings that will help dissipate heat. The desktop version features a 3-mm thick aluminum casing with a “Starck signature” LED. Meanwhile. the mobile version comes with a 2-mm thick aluminum casing with a built-in retractable USB cable.
