
Kobo has just announced the availability of their new Android e-Book reader ‘Vox’ in the UK. Available via WHSmith stores and online, the device is currently being sold for 169.99 GBP (about $265). Korean bookseller Kyobo has recently unveiled a new e-book reader with a 5.7-inch (1024 x 768) Mirasol display. In case you didn’t know, the Qualcomm Mirasol display technology combines some of the best features of e-ink and LCD displays. The Kyobo Mirasol eReader is powered by a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S2 processor, a customized version of Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and WiFi connectivity. Word has it that Amazon will launch a larger version of the Kindle Fire in 2012. The next generation of Kindle Fire will feature an 8.9-inch display. Two Amazon’s display screen suppliers, Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) and LG Display (LGD), have started the production for 8.9-inch displays for the Kindle Fire.
