Nikon Media Port

Nikon is back with their latest line of cameras…  Wait they’re not cameras!!  They’re the latest portable entertainment space.  We’re not sure what happened to Nikon but we don’t really care, these headsets look uber-cool!  Set for release on December 12, these two multimedia playback headsets are Nikon’s way of paving a path to a new media genre.  And yes, there are two.  First is the Media Port UP 300 (4GB) and the other is a higher-performance 300X (8GB).  They both are Apple iPod compatible and they come with wi-fi ability.  Tokyo passersbies can get a test drive for these headsets with built-in screen for video playback/streaming and Web surfing.  The catch?  $680 for the basic edition, and you’ll need to hook up with a Tokyo babe to get you one of these.  [Crave]

Pioneer HDJ-2000

Living in Bali I know of a few international DJs and I think it’s safe to say that most of them would appreciate memory foam padding in their headphones.  This new Pioneer HDJ-2000 headphones has not only that, and no it doesn’t have a built-in scratch pad, but what it does have are 50mm driver units with a 3,500 MW input for the best sound at the highest volumes.  And to make sure you can scratch in supreme comfort, there’s a unique magnesium swivel mechanism for 90 degree movement, not to mention that the said memory foam would mould to the shape of your ears.  [Electricpig]

NAU is currently working on the next generation state of the art interface. The immersive cocoon is a human-sized dome with 360 degree display on its interior, allowing you to reach out and ‘grab’ information from all around you, just like some scene in Minority Report. It opens a new door for complex multiplayer online games where you get to fight off enemies who approach from all directions, or even virtual museums or gyms. NAU hopes to complete its prototype Cocoon by October 2009, with models commercially available by 2014. [CNN VIA Upcoming Videogames]
