Here is good news for all Sony PlayStation fans. The Sony PlayStation 3 Slim has been officially unveiled in the US. The new model is actually a cost-reduced version of the current version. It is now 32% smaller, 36% lighter and will consume 34% less energy than its predecessor. The new Sony PlayStation 3 Slim will be released in September 2009 for 29,800 Yen ($299). As we promised yesterday, here’s the announcement for the Nintendo DSi. Instead of from Japan, this announcement comes straight from Nintendo America, from the chief himself, Mr. Reggie Fils-Aimé. And the announcements is.. drum rolls.. that the DSi launch date in North America has been delayed until next year. Apparently Nintendo is about to announce their next-gen Nintendo DS console. According to MCV’s sources in Japan, Satoru Iwata will make a press release at 9pm PST tomorrow. Not sure what time that is in Japan but this is exciting news. We learned very little details about the new console except that it will sport MP3 playing and some camera functions. [Gizmodo via the Video Games Blog]

According to Impress, Sony will build a new Sony PlayStation 4 with a faster Cell chip (up to 3.2GHz) and a small size Chip (from a 90 nanometer process down to 45 nanometers). The Chip is also expected to have a higher cores from 8 to 12. The company has also decided to upgrade the memory from the very fast but expensive Rambus XDR memory in the PS3 to low-power DDR3. Bungie has unveiled the new teaser trailer for Halo 3 video game entitled “Keep It Clean.” The video shows a large and futuristic city that is being destroyed.
