Samsung will be upgrading their 82-inch QuadHD LCD with 120Hz motion processing and LED backlighting along with a 3840×2160 resolution. Samsung will also have an 82-inch ultra high definition e-Board in its SID 2008 booth. No word on the price or whether it’ll be available Stateside or not. [TV Snob]

Itfeatures a 1080p panel, twin HDMI ports, S/PDIF digital audio out, a PC input (with audio), digital ATSC / ClearQAM tuner, 172-degree viewing angles, 3-D comb filter and “color enhancement / noise reduction features. Sports Ball-Shaped LCD Monitors

Hannspree has dropped some 19-inch LCD monitors called the XM-Ball Series in Korea. They feature a soccer ball, basketball and baseball-shaped frames made from real leather. All three have support for 1280 x 1024 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, 3ms response speed and HDMI port. No word on pricing or availability just yet. [AVING]

Buffalo Launches 22-inch LCD Monitor

Buffalo will release a new 22” LCD screen. It comes with a WSXGA resolution (1680×1050), a response time of 5ms, a contrast ratio of 1000: 1, support for DVI with HDCP (High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection). The Buffalo 22-inch LCD screen will be available in late May. [Akihabara] More »

AUO will be releasing ultra-slim 42” TFT LCDs with LED technology. It comes with white LEDs to reduce power consumption as well as simplifying the driving circuit, birghtness of 450 units and a contrast ratio of 200,000 to 1. Digital Canvas is launching 3 new flat panels in 34-, 43- or 52-inch models with PC components. Each one has a 2.1GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 120GB hard drive, WiFi module, a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution panel and a string across the b!ack for picture frame hanging. Dell Crystal LCD Screen Released In Japan

The Dell Crystal LCD screen is now available in the Japanese market. The display was released previously in the US. It is actually a 22 inch LCD monitor with a WSXGA resolution (1680×1050) and sports a dynamic contrast function, HDMI port, USB2.0 port, and a 2MP shooter. The LCD screen offers a 270cd/m2 brightness level and a contrast ratio of 2000:1. [Akihabara]

LG Develops New Circular And Elliptical Displays

LG is currently developing small circular and elliptical LCD screens. The 1.4 inch circular-shaped LCD measures 35.5 mm in diameter, while the 6 inch elliptical LCD measures 78.8mm in height and 131.4mm wide. Both display screens offer up to 262,000 colors and 160-degree viewing angle. These new technology will be used for mobile phones and watches in the future. [Akihabara]

Samsung 240Hz LCD Protoype

Samsung will be launching the “blue phase” LCD panel. It’s the first to demonstrate image-driving speed of 240Hz. Samsung follows DLP manufacturers that plan to cross the 240Hz barrier at CES by manufacturing a display that aligns its own layers. You can expect to see these in 2011 and beyond. It’s the first of TVs “that require high-speed video reproduction”. But if you can’t wait that long to see it in all its glory, then there’s a 15-inch model at the Society for Information Display 2008 show in LA May 18. [Engadget]
