
Toshiba has announced the availability of its new flagship 55ZL1 HDTV. The new model will be the first HDTV to be powered by a new CEVO-ENGINE, which replaces the company’s Cell-powered models. The CEVO-ENGINE is essentially a stack of Cell multicore processors in the form of a seven-core processing unit that provides the processing grunt for such features as 2D to 3D conversion, 3D depth control, HDD video recording, Auto Calibration, and a face recognition feature that will switch to your personal settings after identifying you using the 55ZL1′s integrated camera. This means that you no longer have to reconfigure the TV every time you sit down in front of it. What’s more, you can also adjust the level of the 3D effect using a 3D Depth Control feature, while the TV’s Intelligent 3D+ reduces the panel’s response time to help cut ghosting in 3D mode. Toshiba says a new Auto Calibration feature found in the 55ZL1 adopts a color-analyzer-based approach to optimize the settings and display movies with the same colors and gray scale intended by the movie’s director. Toshiba will release the 55-inch 55ZL1 in May 2011 in Europe at a price yet to be announced. It also plans to extend the CEVO-ENGINE into its more affordable WL and upcoming YL series that will be available in 42-, 46-, and 55-inch screen sizes later this year. [Gizmag]

The Sharp LE820 HDTV is equipped with the new Quattron Quad Pixel Technology, which was introduced at CES 2011. The Quattron Quad Pixel Technology takes the traditional red, green, blue color spectrum on standard HDTV’s to a new level with the introduction of a yellow pixel creating Quad Pixel Technology. The Sharp LE820 HDTV offers a 120Hz refresh rate, edge LED lighting, W-Fi connectivity and includes onboard apps for Netflix, Vudu and CinemaNow streaming. Cayce Blanchard, Mitsubishi Electric North America Senior VP, has announced that the company will concentrate from now on micro-display projection televisions (MDPTVs) and large Laservue televisions starting from 73-inch and above. This move will help Mitsubishi Electric to focus its business on large public displays that can be found in convention centers or stadiums. In addition, the company will also concentrate on projector sales, display wall and printers. Mitsubishi also plans to expand its Professional Visual Systems (PVS) business to Central and South America. [Ubergizmo]

Toshiba has unveiled the new REGZA RB2 HDTV. Available in 26-inch, 32-inch and 40-inch models, the REGZA RB2 features a Blu-ray drive/recorder and USB recording function, allowing you to store TV shows and other kind of TV programs on an external USB flash drive. The 40-inch model features a Full HD resolution, while the 26-inch and 32-inch model offer an HD (1366×768) resolution with a 120Hz panel. The Toshiba REGZA RB2 is also capable to record TV programs on a connected drive via DTCP-IP/DLNA. No word on pricing at this moment. [Akihabara]

The Samsung 950 Series 3D LED display is now available in the South Korean market. Available in two different versions with the asymmetric 9 Series (27TA950) and 7 Series (27TA750), these 27-inch 3D LED displays adopt the Samsung Ultra Clear Panel technology, Samsung TV Apps and Smart Hub, as well as Connect Share, allowing you to access media via a USB port. Toshiba today rolled out the new Regza Z2 LED series that supports dual core CEVO engine. The 47-inch Regza Z2 47Z2, 42-inch 42Z2 and 37-inch 37Z2 feature an IPS LED-backlight panel, reaching up to 99% of the NTSC color space. The newly developed dual core CEVO engine allows the Toshiba Regza Z2 LED series to include many different video mode such as the Anime mode, Photo mode and Video Game mode. Additional specs include DLNA support, a USB video recording mode and three digital TV tuners, allowing you to record any TV programs. Unfortunately, there is no info on pricing at this time. Samsung has finally confirmed the availability of the D7000 And D8000 3D LED TVs in the South Korean market. The Samsung D7000 and D8000 are the latest generation of 3D LED TVs that come in a very slim design. Both LED TVs is able to display 3-dimensional contents in full HD resolution with a wider viewing angle, reduced cross-talk and screen flickering. In addition, these LED TVs also support Smart Hub UI that includes a universal search bar, access to Samsung Apps store and support for world’s lightest active shutter glasses. Sony Japan today introduced a trio of new Monolithic Bravia full HDTVs, the 22-inch KDL-22EX42H, 32-inch KDL-32EX42H and 40-inch KDL-40EX42H. These HDTVs comes equipped with Sony’s Edge LED panel and a 500GB of internal HDD. The Sony Bravia Monolithic is able to record videos on an external Drive via USB port. These TVs comes with a full HD resolution panel on the 40-inch only, while the 32-inch and 22-inch models come with a 1366×768 panel. LG has demonstrated the new LG Infinia LW9500 HDTV at CES 2011. Available in 55-inch or 60-inch model, the Full HD 1080p 3D-enabled HDTV features LG’s thinnest design with an ultra-slim bezel, the NANO FULL LED technology, TruMotion 480Hz and THX 3D and 2D display certification (pending). Also includes LG SmartTV with Magic Remote, DLNA, Wi-Fi capability (adaptor included) and Smart Energy Saving features.
