This Pioneer Elite PureVision 1080p plasma will accept sources from 720p and 1080i to DVD and Blu-ray Disc, and will automatically smart convert it to deliver the highest resolution picture possible.

Panasonic 103 Inch Plasma TV Goes On Sale

Panasonic USA launches the world’s largest full HD Plasma display. The plasma TV is 103 Inches wide and supports a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It has a contrast ratio of 3000:1 and a 3.8 Inch pixel pitch. The company will be manufacturing 5000 of these displays annually at its high tech factory in Amagasaki - Japan. There is no info on pricing yet.

LG Introduces the 71

LG Electronics proudly introduces its super-large 71-inch Plasma TV, the world’s first and largest commercialized plasma TV. It offers 1080p full high-definition (1920 x 1080) resolution. The special model is not only decorated with 24-K gold, but also offers several package items that include a 600W home theatre system and a terrestrial digital broadcast receiver. Here’s the latest Plasma TV from LG. Although LG has show the 100-inch tv’s, those were only prototypes. The 71-inch television set will feature 1080p HD resolution. Also having a display resolution of 1920 x 1080p, contrast ratio of 1200:1 and a viewing angle of 160 degrees. Via New Launches.

Panasonic has also announced a new 10000:1 Contrast Ratio Plasma TV available in 42-inch and 50-inch display. Sony also recently announced a similar product. The 42-inch Panasonic TH-42PX60U will retail for about $2500 US and 50-inch Panasonic TH-50PX60U will retail for about $3500 US. Info via Engadget.

Sony Plasma with a 10000:1 Ratio

Sony will release plasma screens for the Japanese professional market, the WD-42PX2 and WD-42PX2S (for Silver). These 42″ screens have a 1024×768 (XGA) resolution for optimized use with the IT world and a contrast ratio of 10000:1. Via Akihabara News.
