
I just saw this on CNBC Asia and quickly tracked it online. This could be the end of hide-and-seek between kids and their parents. Announced today Sprint Nextel just launched a locator service called Family Locator. The new service allows parents to use either a phone or PC to pinpoint the location of a child. The location is generated on a map with the nearest address and surrounding landmarks along with the accuracy of the location. For $9.99 a month you can make your kids nightmare come true.

The Mio A701 Phone comes with GPS, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, an SD slot, 128 MB ROM memory, 64 MB RAM memory, USB port, and handwriting recognition. This all the while being a PDA that runs on Windows Mobile 5.0. It’ll run you about £390 ($680 US). Info via Red Ferret.

Alpine is introducing their PMD-B100 Blackbird GPS/Mp3 Player. This is a sleek looking portable, on-the-go GPS system that includes the maps of the US. The Blackbird also features a 3.6″ touchscreen, a built-in antenna, and Mp3 playback from the unit’s SD slot. The Blackbird’s price is set at $700. Via Uncrate.

Sony’s NV-U70 has a 3.5″ touch-screen GPS receiver that will have less fingerprint smudges, and can be look at from all different angles as well as a built in 1GB harddrive. This portable GPS system also features an automated brightness control that changes depending the time of the day. Getting lost will become impossible with this GPS system.
