Samsung today announced its new slim portable Blu-ray writer, the SE-506AB. The device features a glossy anti-scratch surface and supports a USB power interface that eliminates the need for a separate electrical outlet. Apparent Corporation has started selling the Doxie portable USB-powered document scanner. The single-page document scanner is designed for quick and easy scanning to PDF format and optional upload to a number of cloud services, including Evernote, Flickr, Google Docs? and several others, or simply saving PDFs to disk. Multi-page documents can be scanned one at a time and saved to a single PDF, PNG, or JPG file. The scanner can also handle receipts, notes, photos and most other paper-based documents. MicroVision has introduced its latest pico projector, the ShowWX+HDMI. The portable projector supports a maximum output resolutions up to 848×480, though source devices must support 480p resolution rather than higher standards such as 720p or 1080p. The ShowWX+HDMI features a 15-lumen lamp, an HDMI port, and a connector designed for iOS devices such as the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. There is also a special adapter (sold separately) that allows you to connect this pocket-sized projector with your computer via a VGA connector. Panasonic today announced the availability of the BG-BL01 portable solar battery charger. Measuring 152mm x 104mm x 24mm and weighing 150grams, the device comes with a HIT Solar panel, two AA battery charger slots, three LED lights and a USB port. The company claims that it will take up to 15-hour in perfect condition to fully charge two AA batteries. The BG-BL01 also provides up to 10-hour of light at a maximum brightness or up to 60-hour of light at its lowest brightness. Sony is ready to launch two new portable DVD players in Japan. The 9-inch DVP-FX970 and 7-inch DVP-FX750 come equipped with a 12Bit 108MHz Video D/A converter and 96kHz 24Bit Audio D/A converter. Both portable DVD players also support MP3 and JPEG files, which are stored in a CD. What’s more, the Sony DVP-FX970 has a 180 degrees swivel display.
