Logitec Japan has launched the LDR-PMB8U2 which is a USB-enabled portable DVD RW which supports DVD-RAM (8x), DVD+R (8x), and DVD-R (6x). It is powered by USB 2.0 port that eliminates the need for extra AC adapter. Measures 142 mm x 172 mm x 17.5 mm and weighs 350 grams, this portable DVD RW is a RoHS-compliant product and compatible with Mac OS and Windows.

NuTech Taiwan introduced the CinePlayer PDP100 which measures only 16.3 cm x 15 cm x 1.8 cm. The company claims this CinePlayer PDP100 to be the world’s smallest and slimmest DVD player. Weighing just 280 grams, the Nu CinePlayer supports the best disc compatibility ranging from DVD, DVD±RW, DVD±R, DVD±R DL, VCD, CD, CD-R, and CD-RW. It supports MP3, JPEG, MPEG4, and DivX file format. It is available now for $167. Besides normal audio and video I/O, the NU CinePlayer has built in advanced SPDIF/ YPbPr for better digital audio and video output.

LG Electronics Japan has released the DP171 Portable DVD player that features a swivel-type LCD screen. This swivel-type LCD screen allows you to view your favorite movies from 7 different angles. The device plays DVDs (compatible with DVD -R, -RW, -R DL, +R and +RW), DivX, MP3, WMA and JPEG files. LG claimed DP171’s battery has 3.5 hours of battery life. The LG DP171 portable DVD player is only available in Japanese market for about 30,000 yen.

Polaroid Japan released its latest portable DVD player, the Polaroid PDJ-0753 which supports a 7 inch swivel LCD and a compact design. The player has an aspect ratio of 16: 9 and supports only NTSC. It measures 202 mm × 150 mm × 40 mm and weight 0.75kg. The PDJ-0753 has 3 hours of battery life. The swivel screen can be rotated up to 180 degrees so that anyone can enjoy the DVD player without restricted to one position. Moreover, the gadget has an EPS function which reduces the impact of vibration and movements. Polaroid PDJ-0753 is available for about 19,800 Yen.

OPPO Digital introduced its new LCD TV, the LT-2007. It is a 20.1 Inch TFT LCD which is equipped with a TV tuner, a USB port, a card reader, and a built-in slot-loading DVD player for your all-in-one entertainment station. However, this LCD TV only supports a maximum resolution of 800 x 600 pixels which is insufficient for today’s needs. OPPO Digital LT-2007 is on sale for $607.

JVC will be released the KV-DV50 very soon. It is an in-car DVD player which is also able to play discs filled with Divx videos, MP3s and WMAs. The KV-DV50 will also playback all the common burnable DVD formats such as DVD+R/RW and DVD-R/RW. This DVD player will be released in Japan this September for around $250.

The small AXN series dvd players from the Japanese Nagese Corp. can slide into any small area in your luggage with ease. The dvd players can play any DVD or CD at the moment. The AXN 5429T with the 4.2 inch LCD screen will be available later this week starting at $145. The BDP-1200 will be able to play DVD±R/RW, SVCD and CD-R/RW discs and will also support Divx and MP3 files. For direct playback, the BDP-1200 features an SD / Memory stick slot. The Lithium Ion battery provides 3 hours of continuous playback. The BDP-1200 package comes complete with Remote Control, AV cable, Car charger kit and battery.
