LG and Verizon Wireless have joined to release the new LG Versa on March 1st, 2009. The Versa comes with a 3-inch touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard for everybody who doesn’t like typing on a touchscreen. There are also a 2.0MP shooter with face detection, microSD card slot (up to 16GB extra memory), a 2.5mm headset jack, Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR, EV-DO Rev. A, Flash support for the full HTML browser and a built-in accelerometer. This smartphone is also compatible with Verizon’s Mobile Broadband Connect, which allows you to use your phone as a modem when connected to a laptop. Sadly, the Mobile Broadband Connect costs $60 / month and is limited to just 5GB. The LG Versa will be available from Verizon for $199 with a 2-year contract after a $50 mail-in rebate. Nice device!
I see a lot of similarities between the LG Versa and an iPhone, but I must say I love the idea behind a detachable QWERTY keyboard. My current Verizon Wireless phone has a QWERTY keyboard which I have grown to love so it’s something I would look for in another phone. Ironically, the phone I have is also an LG phone so it might be time for a trade-in.
Why would you want a modem on your cell phone?
thats a sick ass phone
