Japan-based Murata Manufacturing has created the Murata Boy which is the world’s first bicycle-riding robot. The robot is equipped with four types of sensors: two gyro sensors which are used to detect angular velocity and inclination; an ultrasonic sensor to detect obstacles and a shock sensor for detecting rough surfaces. This robot is connected to a PC using the wireless LAN connection for forward, stop, and backward type commands and he can follow pre-programmed paths. Murata Boy is about 2 foot tall and it speeds up 30 inches per second and it can even balance at a complete stop. Check the video for more details.
